Weekend Bliss

Image
I just had the most wonderful weekend. I was able to do all the things that I love with the people that I love! My weekend started off by my bouncing out of work a couple of hours early on Friday to head down to the Rock N Roll Seattle Marathon Expo! One of my favorite race expos but this year I got to volunteer at two booths. I started off at the Seattle Green Lake Running Group Pacer booth for an hour or so and I was very fascinated by how many runners didn't know what a pacer was. It was exciting to tell them what we did and how we did it. I absolutely love being a pacer, helping people reach their goals is so rewarding, it's indescribable! I highly recommend it!  I then spent the last 3 hours of the expo at the Hot Chocolate 15k/5k booth! I love love love Chocolate, so why not share my love with other runners! It was a blast telling people about the race and how... there really are chocolate aid stations and chocolate at the finish and chocolate chocolate chocolate, did...

I am now a Hot Chocolate Ambassador!

Hello everyone! I am super excited to announce that I have been selected a a Hot Chocolate Ambassador!  I have run two Hot Chocolate 15ks and last year I even paced the Seattle Hot Chocolate 15k !  The Hot Chocolate 15/5k series began in Chicago in 2008. The owner of RAM Racing was looking for a fun, holiday event to end the year since the Chicago Marathon was the last major running event of the year (October). Something that wasn’t Christmas or Santa-themed that people would really enjoy. While a Starbucks fanatic, hot chocolate is the only thing he’ll order and as he was pontificating holding a cup of cocoa the light bulb went off! That year there were 3,000 runners. In 2009 that number grew to 12,000. 2010 – 30,000 runners. 2011 – 40,000. 2012-13 we have hovered around 40,000+ runners, making it the largest race in the city of the Chicago. In 2012 RAM Racing expanded – taking the race to Washington D.C., Dallas and San Diego. Each year we have added...

Perfect weather and perfect run! I started off this race thinking that I would run an easy 11:30 the whole time in preparation for the Hot Chocolate 15k the next day, that didn't last long. The weather was too nice to waste! I split off from the pacers and just had fun :D 11:30 Pacer for the Hot Chocolate 15k Seattle with Beast Pacing ! I had an amazing op...

Any more races out there that I should do?

WOW is all I have to say when it comes to my running lately. I am working through my training plan and it is just amazing how I have changed in just over a month. Last weekend I about gave up doing my 18 mile run and yesterday I made it through my 20 mile run with a bounce still in my step! I am definitely finding my honest love for running again, and dare I say it? Loving the longer runs too! This week is kind of a "week off" so to speak. My longest run is 10 miles. It'll be nice to drop down this week and rest up a bit, because I will need it before ramping back up again in a big way! The countdown is on, 74 days before the big race. It'll be here before I know it.  Strangely, I have several other races coming up as well... Not sure how that happened when I decided this year I'd do less races than last year.  Lake Sammamish Half Marathon Hot Chocolate 15k, Pacer Blooms to Brews Marathon Frisco Railroad Run 50 Miler Mt Zion Trail Ragnar (Possible...

The Hot Chocolate 15k and 5k in Seattle

Image
Where to begin... The very idea of running for Chocolate is a wonderful one! I saw this race and just had to sign up, there was no question. The expo was fun but considerably smaller than I thought it would be considering the size of the event. There were really great photo ops and they even had volunteers out helping race participants capture their Hot Chocolate memories. They also had a chocolate fondue station with mini hot cocoas as well. That was pretty nice. The only thing negative about the expo was their lack of directions to get to it! There weren't any signs around the Seattle Center either pointing towards the packet pick up despite the huge number of volunteers wandering around setting up for the big event. We had to make a full circle before we found the expo (under ground and only one sign saying packet pick up) but we did eventually find it! The info that was distributed for race day said to be at the race area by 6:30 for a 7:55 start. I thought that was a bit ear...
