Overcoming the obstacles of life.

Running after the holidays is never easily. Finding your grove once again can almost seem impossible. I have been out for a couple of runs in this new year and it has been a little rough to start. But Anthony and I have made a pact to workout and run more frequently and step up our game dramatically to get ready for the Mountains to Beach full marathon in May. It really isn't that far away!  We are wanting to create an amazing memorable experience with our trip to California for the run but we aren't quite sure what we would like to do yet. Ideally we would fly down, rent a car and take two weeks to drive back up to WA but that seems a bit of a stretch, in a good way though because Anthony just received the great news that he will be switching to a new company in a couple of weeks. Congratulations to him on moving up in his career! So we may just make it a luxurious weekend on the beach with a marathon thrown in. Can't get much more relaxing than that!  I am so grate...

Bonnie Davis, a Running Rock Star

Image
I would like to introduce Bonnie Davis a 45 year old Rock Star from Livonia, MI. She started running when other high impact workouts just weren’t enough and she wanted to see what else she could do. She started running in 2013 with the help of her sister who works for New Balance and was able to get her the hook up on running gear, how wonderful! This is her running journey. I used to lie in freshmen gym class, saying I had asthma to get out of our pre class run warm up. I have always hated it, but longed to do it. I have had dreams that I'm running and running, but it's like flying. I also am inspired by older runners I see at races who look fantastic. I want to be like that someday.” Where do you prefer to run? Trails, treadmill, road, etc.? “I definitely prefer to run outdoors. My neighborhood is pretty flat and boring but it's laid out for easy routing a...

Where or where has Katie Gone?

Well, I am still here. I have just been in recovery mode from the last two weeks of complete Crazy. I took my weekend off from Everything! I haven't been working out either. Sadface :( I just feel completely drained. The GREAT news is (drum roll please) I will be going to day shift in December! I am beyond ready and I am very excited to change shifts. The only sad part is I will be changing supervisors too and I have the best supervisor ever! I will miss him that's for sure. T-Minus 10 days and I will get my life back! (Hopefully that's the official date, still working on the details.) My current shift is (Every other Wed) Thu-Sat, 6pm-6am! I will be changing to Sun-Tues (every other Wed). Do you know what this means!?! I will have Fri and Saturdays off! OMG!!!  It is 818 days from the start of my Night Shift Imprisonment to the end Or 2 years, 2 months, 27 days!  Other ways to look at my night shift imprisonment: §   70,675,200 seconds ...
