2017 has been an interesting year

So, here I am once again in Missouri. The place I never thought I would live again. Have to give life that, it is so unexpected and you just can't control it. I have had a very rocky 2017. So much has happened this year in a negative way that it is almost unbelievable. I left Amazon because they wanted me to work more, I was already pulling 60-70 hour weeks (in office, not including work I did from home). Then I moved on to Intentional Futures and the job was ok but it wasn't challenging enough for me and it was just not quite the right fit, so I left them. I have been unemployed now for three months. I have applied to hundreds of jobs and so far, nothing. It isn't from the lack of interviews. I have interviewed at least two dozen companies, mostly phone screens, but I am still in the rut. Hopefully the right role will come along soon. As far as my running goes, I have talked about my IT band injury from July. I received a steroid shot in my knee which I had several r...

Pie High Trail Run Half Marathon

Image
Ok all y'all! I finally did it! I ran my first official trail half marathon. It only took 30 half marathons to get out there and finally do it, but there yah go! The Pie High Trail Run  got me out there, well, who can say no to pie!? I have always loved running trails way more than roads. I have been running on them for quite a while now but this has just been my first official race. I had a blast!!! My friends and I decided to give ourselves trail names and we even registered under them. The race director found this to be hilarious and asked us to pose for a picture. Doing inappropriate things to the bear... From left to right: Sweatband Jesus,  Briny Bradypus,  Rabid Raccoon, Trash Panda,  Red Velvet Underground, Crack Attack! Conquering that hill with a smile! Didn't even know this photo was being taken. This the hill we started off with. Just a nice hello from the start. A 500 foot straight up hill! Wasn't that bad once you got going, jus...

22 miles, that's easy!

This weekend was the first week of longer runs in my training plan. Saturday I was to run 14 and Sunday 8 but I decided to have a bit of fun on Saturday and I ran the Rain Run half marathon with my friend Peter. It was the perfect weather for the run, it was in the 40s and it sprinkled the whole race! I have worked with race directors before and they are just the nicest people! Plus, they put on a really great race experience every time. They don't let the fact that the race is small effect the quality of the support that they give on or off the course. They have nice aid stations and a fun start/finish area. What I also like about The Rain Run is that they don't do shirts, they actually give out umbrellas instead. Fitting, right!? I highly recommend this race.  Peter and I crossing the muddy finish line! Yep, I finished half marathon #25! It was a lot of fun running with Peter as well. It made the time go by so fast! We just chatted and had a great time. I shou...

Skiing at Whistler!

Image
What a fantastic weekend! My friend Jordan invited several of his friends and I to spend the weekend in Whistler, B.C. I had never been there but had heard many great things. I am so glad I went! The beauty is indescribable! Photo by Jordan Anderson  This was my second adventure with skiing. Like the first time it didn't go well. I either just don't have the knack for it or I should take lessons. (I'd like to take lessons) I really want to be able to ski!  It wasn't long into the day when I had taken one too many falls and I had to head back to the chalet. But it was so much fun to see the mountains, the snow, all of the wonderful skiers. I can't wait to get better at skiing so that I can go back! My friend Michelle and I right before my last big fall. Michelle and I in front of our Chalet, right at the top of the ski in ski out! As it turns out Jordan knows some very talented people! His friends spent two days back country skiing! WoW! And I can...
