Exploring Utah!

Image
Kaurine and I have already had many adventures in the great outdoors of Utah. There are so many beautiful places to go and see! We have barely scratched the surface of it all. The following are a few of my favorite pictures from our recent adventures. 5th Water Hot Springs Horsetail Falls Oak Grove to Battlecreek Loop Add caption Flaming Gorge Red Pine Lake There are a few places that we can take the dogs, so we take them when we can. They love hiking, backpacking, trail running just as much as we do. We do practice leave no trace , Laddie was recently fitted with his own doggy backpack, which means he gets to carry his own poop out. Which is awesome! I hated carrying it in my pack.  If you are on a trail and you see trash, pick it up. I never come back from an adventure without trash in my pack that I have collected along the way. Hwy 101 and more

I am here googling away for all of the places that I might want to see when I hit the road with Laddie, I know there are so many amazing places in my neck of the woods that I haven't taken the time to go out and see or learn about. As it turns out there are many do's and don't to road trips and staying in your car over night, who knew!? I am pretty excited about turning my little Escape into a mini camper for Laddie and I for several days. Anyone have any suggestions for this that I might not have read about? I have already figured out how to take out the seat cushions in the back to give me almost 8 more inches of headroom so that I can easily lay flat, Laddie just sleeps in a tiny ball... no concerns there lol. Just living in masses of Laddie hair all over the car for several days may drive me bonkers but it will so be worth it in the end. I would love to get in a few hikes/trail runs on my trip as well and check out some awesome view points along they way. Places ...

Trying Something New! AirBnB in Seattle

Image
As you all know, living in a city these days costs an arm and a leg. I struggle to make ends meet each month, yet I am bound and determined to not have a roommate, so I decided to get creative. I signed up to be a host on AirBnB.  I didn't think that my apartment had anything to offer but as it turns out there are many many people listing and offering just a couch to crash on. I put a lot of thought into it and decided, just getting my couch rented out 6 nights a month, would drastically change my current living expense crunch.  Last night my very first guest checked in! He was drawn to my listing because of my race medal wall. He does triathlons and thought it'd be cool to crash with someone he could relate to. He is very friendly, thank goodness! It is always scary starting something new like this.  I'm really looking forward to meeting new people and trying something really new for me. Come stay with me! Weekend Bliss

Image
I just had the most wonderful weekend. I was able to do all the things that I love with the people that I love! My weekend started off by my bouncing out of work a couple of hours early on Friday to head down to the Rock N Roll Seattle Marathon Expo! One of my favorite race expos but this year I got to volunteer at two booths. I started off at the Seattle Green Lake Running Group Pacer booth for an hour or so and I was very fascinated by how many runners didn't know what a pacer was. It was exciting to tell them what we did and how we did it. I absolutely love being a pacer, helping people reach their goals is so rewarding, it's indescribable! I highly recommend it!  I then spent the last 3 hours of the expo at the Hot Chocolate 15k/5k booth! I love love love Chocolate, so why not share my love with other runners! It was a blast telling people about the race and how... there really are chocolate aid stations and chocolate at the finish and chocolate chocolate chocolate, did...

Meet my new running buddy, Laddie!

Image
This weekend I went and I did something that I never thought that I would do. I adopted a dog! Not just any dog, a 2 1/2 year old dalmatian named Laddie.  Laddie giving some love :) Laddie doesn't like to pose for photos!   I found Laddie by a random cold email to  Patti and Rod Strand   dalmatian breeders in Portland and  helped me connect with Laddie. I was looking for a puppy but when Patti informed me that they had an older dog I was all about that! Laddie was previously a show dog and now he is ready for some grand adventures with me!  Looking forward to what will come.
