Mt Zion Ragnar Trail Relay and the Grand Canyon!

Image
I am sure that many of you have heard of the Ragnar Relays but have you heard of Ragnar Trail Relays? Same concept of a relay team but very different concept about traveling 200 miles. In a Ragnar Trail Relay there is a base camp where all of the teams camp out for a couple of days while each team member takes their turn running the three trail loops. Each runner still runs 3 separate times, just like a Road Ragnar but instead of all different legs, everyone on the team runs the same three legs.  We did it!  This race was a bit of a tough one, one of our teammates Lynne had an unfavorable run in with another very rude runner and ended up breaking a few bones in her right leg. We are all very grateful that she is up and about now, determined to be running again in the fall. She is an amazingly inspirational person who has shown us that there are no excuses! Here's to you Lynne! May you heal swiftly and kick all of our asses at our next meet up! I look blah but was doi...

A Road Trip with a Run

This week Anthony had his first business trip with Amazon and I was able to tag along! We packed up and headed to Kennewick, WA. I was able to find what seemed like the perfect pass time while Anthony was busy working. A trail to run on! The Sacajawea Trail to be exact. I was pretty excited for a new place to run. When I got the chance I searched out the trail and headed out on my run. It was sunny and beautiful alone the Columbia River. But my run quickly turned a bit sour for me. It wasn't a trail like I am used to at all. It weaved back and forth from the waterfront (which was nice) to the road where I had to run on the shoulder and choke on the exhaust from passing vehicles.  This was very discouraging for me, so much so I didn't take my second day there and spend it on the trail. Instead I went and road one of the most beautifully preserved carousels I have ever seen! The Carousel of Dreams in Kennewick was originally built in 1910 but looks like it is bran new. I am so...

Glorious run in the sun!

So I decided to do something a little different on my run today. I've noticed many of my running and cycling friends stop and take photos during their training outings, so I decided to give it a try. I live in the PNW and have been blessed with numerous hiking/running/equestrian trails near my home. The most convenient and probably my favorite trail to run/bike on is the Sammamish River Trail. I personally access the trail in Redmond and I love to run down to Marymoore Park on the warmer days because of the many convenient water fountains and on the cooler days head north towards Woodenville. That is the direction I took today and it was completely beautiful out! The leaves are already starting to fall! This one is right outside my apartment. The first tree to great me on my run today. Saf to see the leaves have ready fallen. I always try to stretch when I'm at a stop light, it seems like time well spent compared to running in place! So sometimes people get to see a great view ...

A little hip to the hop

Yesterday I set out for my run like normal with the distance of 6 miles in mind. As soon as I stepped outside I knew the weather was perfect for a 6 mile run, it was cloudy and cool with a slight breeze, perfect! I started off my run a little slower than normal but then decided to keep up a nice slow steady pace. At mile 3 I decided I wanted to keep going and try for 8 miles, I felt really good and didn't want to stop. At about mile 4 I could see the weather was changing it looked like rain but that doesn't stop me and decided to make mile 5 my turnaround point making my total a 10 mile run. I just felt really good and didn't feel like stopping. Then by my 5 1/2 it was pouring.  Yes, the heavens opened up and the rain came down, the last 5 miles I had to run in pouring rain. So this was my first wet run of the season. I kept pushing through and because it was pouring I fiddled with my phone to make sure that it wouldn't get drenched but by doing so I lost track of my au...
