Advocare Day 5+

Yesterday on day 5, I can tell you now that it finally felt like a "cleanse" phase. But barely. The reason why is because there were two trips to the loo twice yesterday for the number two. But it was totally normal trips, just twice in one day instead of just once. But that is really it. No crazy illness, weird feelings or reactions. I am still having a mild headache, it is getting much better now. Which is a relief. I am also having gas still but this has also calmed down a bit but I am not going to kid you, it is still very prevalent and annoying as all get out.  I little tell about me that I don't believe that I have mentioned in the past, is that I do have IBS, Irritable Bowl Syndrome "is a disorder that leads to abdominal pain and cramping, changes in bowel movements, and other symptoms. IBS is not the same as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which includes Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. In IBS, the structure of the bowel is not abnormal....

Seattle Food Tour, Food Pictures Galore!

Image
Tricia and I partied hardy last Friday evening in Capital Hill, Seattle. She invited me out for a Seattle Food Tour , something that I had never done before and I thought it sounded like fun (after I figured out what she was talking about.) So I arrived at Bar Cotto, the start of the tour, and I thought we were going to two places and Tricia informs me that we were going to five! WoW!  So after I get the confusion out of the way we are greeted by our tour host Coral.  Bar Cotto  is owned by Ethan Cole and is a small Parma-style salumeria and cocktail bar with pizza, Italian vegetables, bruschetta and a daily selection of both local and international cured meats. We had the pleasure of enjoying  Bar  "torta fritta" (fried dough breads) with Prosciutto Cotto, Mortadella and Salami paired with a Lambrusco sparkling red wine, the bubbles in the wine help you salivate more which in turn helps wash down strong or salty foods. The second stop on ou...

Snohomish River Run Recap

Image
Yesterday I ran the Snohomish River Run half marathon and I earned a PR! 2:18:26, took 3 minutes off of my fastest time! As I predicted this year's race was much better organized than it was in the 2012 race. There was plenty of parking close to the race start and the day of packet pick up seem to go very smooth. I was even able to go back to my car to stay warm and get ready for the race after picking up my packet.  All lined up and ready for the race to start! The prerace introduction seemed like it was fun but I was maybe 50 feet away and couldn't hear the speakers so that is something that could have been a little bit different. They went over the racecourse and I couldn't hear them which was sad.  Waiting for the pre race announcements. Race lineup! The race start was a bit confusing I'm just glad that I was towards the back otherwise I think I would've gotten lost! We had a flip our start location from where we were standing for the race introduction to ge...

For the love of food!

Image
Recently, as also seen on here, I have been cooking a lot more than I usually do. I have always known how to cook thanks to my mom and other women in our family. We have always cooked home meals. I spent many hours watching my mom cook growing up. One of my favorite pass times was sitting in front of the oven watching the cookies bake, I mean who wouldn't love that?! There are a couple of problems with the way I learned how to cook/bake and that is... I learned home cookin' ya'll! As in, nothing is healthy, even the famed 7 layer salad that I love so much has a TON of mayo in it. The second being that I love love love to bake and I love love love to eat my baking. This is not so good for the cellulite reduction that I have been working so hard on! However, that being said I did take to the kitchen yesterday and plan to again this evening. This is split pea and ham soup, which turned out perfect! It was so delicious I almost forgotten how good soup can be. Recipe here . Then...

Run Baby Run!

Image
Yesterday Anthony and I had planned on running together after he got off work but a little while before he got off work he text me saying he was tired. So I decided to cheer him up with some running encouragement photos. My photo experiment worked, I had  used the new iPhone timer in the Camera and it worked great. The more importantly it made Anthony laugh. After he got off work I made him dinner and we watched an episode of The Walking Dead and then we decided to go for a run.  Right off the bat the run didn't start well because I ate too much! We got to the bottom of the hill and had to walk. Food babies food!  During the run we both struggled with the over eating and then running. But in the end we still had a good run and I'm glad we got to go together. Just a short 3 mile run but better then no miles! Sometimes it's really hard to overcome being tired and getting out and running but sometimes it's worth it. When Anthony and I run together it is some of the best ti...
