Bum leg... forced my to take a time out

Image
This week is definitely not going as planned. Sunday after my volunteering was completed I was so tired I could hardly stand so I decided to take a rest day instead. Then Monday evening right after getting off work I suffered a severe leg cramp, which was crippling. Yesterday I was took a rest day because I was limping through the day :(  This was my week's plan... Workout guideline: Sunday - 6 miles Monday - 30 Strength Tuesday - 13.1 Mud and Chocolate Virtual Run Wednesday - Rest Thursday - 30 Strength and 3 Miles Friday - 6 Miles  Saturday - 30 Strength and 3 miles Total Miles = 31.1 Total Strength = 3 x 30  My first cold run of the year! I am so sad that I was unable to run my Virtual run all at once. I was able to get out and complete a 6.3 mile run today. Tomorrow I will be doing almost a 7 mile run to get in my full half before the 15th. I'm am so disappointed but I am also so glad they are letting us break up the run to fit i...

A rest day and a stair climb!

Image
All bets are off for today. I went to bed feeling unwell, didn't sleep at all and got up still feeling like poo. I mentally don't want a rest day but my body is screaming at me saying it needs one. Bummer... Sometimes you just need to rest. Recover so you can get back at it! Maybe this little guy will at least put a smile on your face. On the bright side I did just rediscover this climb! I didn't sign up for the Big Climb Seattle this year because I was underwhelmed by it last year. But the ALA Fight for Air Climb looks like it could be fun! " The Fight For Air Climb is a stair climb event - or as some like to call it a “vertical foot race”.  This is a timed event that can be done by the serious or “elite” athlete as well as friends,  family and coworkers. The Seattle Fight for Air Climb is a single climb, but with multiple floor climbing options to climb up to 80, 120 or 160 floors, and is enough to be challenging to the  competitive racer  as well...

Sad Truth of Rest Days

Image
There are days that we runners all know are on our calendars, rest days. That's right the inevitable rest day. Some times they are very much looked forward to and other times they are a day to feel guilty about. For me I usually regret them. I personally don't like rest days because I feel like I failed or I should have worked and done some form of major work out. I feel like I fail in my health and fitness when I take a day off from working out or running. But the truth is they are called rest days for a reason!  I personally try to plan my rest days on specific days of the week I know for sure I will not have time to fit a work out in. So it's more like a working rest day. But if I am fortunate enough to have a day where I can get a rest day in and do something very productive with that day like yoga or a good stretch session then I do. Those days I feel so much better about myself than if I use my rest day as a work day. I don't just feel better physically either, th...
