Seattle Magazine Brunch Run

Run run run as fast as you can! That was the theme of this entire run for me, strangely it started way earlier than the race did. My friends and I all carpooled to the race however, none of us thought to look where to park. Why? Because we thought there would be signs directing us to park, and there were... except we parked in a parking lot dedicated to another race that was happening that day and we had no clue.
We arrived about an hour before the race was to start because we had to pick up our race packets and we wanted to have enough time to get settled in before the start. We piled out of the car and wandered towards the race start (so the signs indicated), about a mile of wandering we found a group of race volunteers and they directed us towards the race start. After about another mile and half we realized that we had be misdirected by a group of volunteers for the wrong race! We found yet another group of volunteers and they were the correct ones this time, thank goodness! They told us we were about 1.5 miles from the race start! So we ran back to our car, which was less than a mile, then drove quickly to the start area. My friends Liz, Tommy and I jumped out of the the car at a stop sign and ran as fast as we could to the packet pick up with less than 10 minutes to the start time while my boyfriend went and parked the car. We grabbed our packets and ran towards the start line as fast as we could. We met Anthony over there and just in time. We lined up, caught our breathe (barely) and the start gun sounded!
Some wonderful bites!
By the time the run had even started we had already walked/run 3 miles. So I was already feeling pretty exhausted, this was definitely not by best 5k. Did I mention it was also extremely hot?! We were all so glad when this race was over. Liz, however, took first place in her age division! Go Liz!
The after party was AMAZING! We were each given 3 drink tickets and 3 food tickets. They had top notch vendors for both and we managed to get so many free drinks it was crazy. We had so much fun spending time together as friends and as runner. I would do this race again in a heartbeat, despite our error on following the wrong race signs...
Enjoying our free drinks at the Seattle Magazine Brunch Run.
